Apple TV+ puts on the cleats.
It’s signed: Apple has just closed a 10-year agreement to broadcast football matches exclusively on its platform, Apple TV+. After recovering the broadcast rights for the American baseball league , the Californian firm is taking another big step into the world of sports streaming.
After Amazon and Ligue 1, here comes Apple and MLS
The MLS (Major League Soccer), the first football league in the United States, will therefore see its matches broadcast on Apple TV+ from 2023 until 2032.
Anyone can enjoy it, provided they are obviously an Apple TV + subscriber. But there will be no geo-blocking , which will allow all football fans, in France for example, to follow the MLS teams.
If it is not the league offering the best football, some of its matches are still interesting. Especially when playing teams like Los Angeles FC or New York City FC and New York Red Bulls. And then the league is known for discovering more and more very young talented players.
This partnership with Apple TV+ will in any case certainly put MLS on the front of the stage around the world. And Apple, at the same time, is enriching its catalog of sports content, in particular to try to catch up with Amazon, which has been strong lately, by buying the rights to broadcast Rolland-Garros and Ligue 1 football matches.
