Barely renewed, the MacBook Air may still change

Maybe you should wait more if you want to buy this device for graphics.

A new rumor about the MacBook Air lineup comes just days after an unreleased model featuring a revamped design debuted at WWDC 2022 . It is once again DSCC analyst Ross Young who is behind it, ensuring that an edition equipped with OLED technology is in the cards.

The advantages of this solution are, among others, lower energy consumption, better quality contrasts and deeper blacks. For comparison, the MacBook Air M2 is equipped with a 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display with 2,560 x 1,664 pixel definition and 500 nits of brightness. It costs 1,499 euros in its basic version, with 8 GB of RAM and a 256 GB SSD.

Also on tablet

Also according to Ross Young, the MacBook Air would not be the only product concerned. This would indeed also be the case for the two iPad Pro . They offer diagonals of 11 or 12.9 inches and were equipped with an M1 processor in May 2021. Their price starts from 899 euros for the small model against 1,219 euros for the largest.

The technical characteristics of the screens of these iPads are also already very advantageous, with an IPS Liquid Retina tactile panel and backlit by mini-LED on the 12.9-inch version. With this, the ProMotion technology guarantees a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz that some will appreciate for games on Apple Arcade or with Xbox Cloud Gaming.

By 2024

Young is counting on at least a year and a half of waiting for the MacBook Air OLED, which would therefore not see the light of day before 2024. Ditto for the iPad Pro. We could then discover them powered by the third generation of Apple silicon chips , if the manufacturer persists in keeping up with its current release rate.

Could you pay more for an OLED screen, on a compact laptop that is already approaching 1,500 euros? The advantages of this system could also be welcome on the touch screen, with editing or color drawing software using the Apple Pencil stylus.
