Busting Myths About Logo Designing – iSoftwareshops

0 0

In this technological era, we have billions and zillions of informative data online. But we are not sure whether this data is authentic and accurate.

You’ll find false information, myths, and rumours too. Sometimes, it’s hard to distinguish authentic information from others.

This is why I am writing this article to debunk myths about logo designing.

Generally, designers of a logo design agency do not get stuck on these myths, but solo working designers became targets of these myths.

A Logo Design is the Company’s Reflection

A logo is used as an identifier, not for storytelling!

It is difficult to tell your company’s story through your logo, as logos are small and compact sized marketing tools that boost your company’s sales.

Flags, logos of companies, emblems, and mascots tell you their identification and distinction from other category members.

See the logo of Apple(read about apple airtag). What story does this apple symbol show? Does it offer a natural apple? No, it is used metaphorically or concretely. Similarly, the logo of Starbucks contains a two-tailed mermaid called a siren. So what do you think is the linkage of a mermaid with the coffee brand? Again, there isn’t any connection; the siren looked so well, the owner decided to use it in the Starbucks logo.

Therefore, we can say that logo design is not always the reflection of the company.

A Logo Must Include A Symbol.

It is not necessary to use symbols in the logo. You’ll find numerous famous logos that do not contain any symbols—Google, Microsoft, Sony, CNN, HBO, HP, etc., are a few examples.

But that doesn’t mean you should not use symbols in your logos. Brands like Apple, Toyota, Starbucks, Shell, Nike etc., have only symbols in their logos.

There are also logos present containing both symbols and Lettermarks like Burger King, KFC, Adidas, and Doritos.

Thus, it’s your choice whether to use symbols or letter marks or both.

A Logo Must Have a Hidden Meaning

What is the hidden message in the logo? The logo of Baskin Robbins contains a prominent “BR”, which, when combined, looks like number 31. This ‘31 number’ means that their customer can eat their new flavoured ice-creams for all 31 days of the month.

Having a hidden message in the logo is just used to show novelty, so not all the logos you have seen contain hidden messages.

If you think of having a hidden message in your logo, you can hire a custom logo design agency.

myths about logo design

A Logo Design Does Not Need Creativity

This myth is totally wrong.

Creativity is an essential aspect for a designer. Just think of creativity as colours. Think of a black and white picture. The picture looks dull because there aren’t any other colours. But if you add colours to it, the image will become lively.

Similarly, your logo has a dull and boring look without creativity, and with creativity, your logo will be attractive and lively.

So, creativity plays a vital role in the appearance and representation of the logo.

myths about logo design

A Logo Has to Follow Its Industry’s Style

Have you seen the logos of real estate agencies? What is their logo made of?

The real estate industry’s logo consists of a house, sun, tree, hill, which looks tedious. There isn’t any rule written anywhere that an estate agent should have these imageries in logos. Still, most companies have used this, so it is expected from new firms in the real estate world to have these imageries in their logo.

It’s not obligatory to follow the traditional culture of the industry in your logo. You have an open hand. You can add anything that can make your logo original, innovative and bold.

A Logo Must Be Likeable to Others

It’s not essential to make your logo likeable to others, and sometimes it is not possible because everybody has a different taste in style.

What matters the most is that your logo should have relevancy with your firm, giving it a unique signature appearance.

Your company’s products and services are more important to customers, not the appearance of the logo. Yes, logos do have importance, but your customers’ basic need is your products and services, which should satisfy them.

Designing a Logo Is an Easy Task

If you think logo designing is an easy task, why do we have a custom logo design agency? Because the task of producing a logo is not a piece of cake.

The design process has various steps that should be carefully fulfilled to make a powerful and strong logo.

The logo represents your firm and shows its own identity in the marketplace. Therefore, they contain certain features relevant to the firm and are hard to depict on the logo.

Clipart Can Be Used to Design a Logo

Clipart is a pre-made image that is mostly used in computers.

The use of clipart should be avoided because of copyright reason. It will not only cost financial loss, but also you will lose your reputation. That is why it is advised not to use clipart.

That is why most firms prefer a logo design agency to design their logo to be aware of penalties and bad word of mouth.

Logos Are Expensive

We all have heard that if you hire a logo design agency or a solo professional logo designer to build a logo is more expensive than it is a myth!

The expensiveness of a logo depends on the extent of simplicity and complexity of the logo. A complex logo will be costly, while a simple logo will be inexpensive.
