The application is inspired by a successful change already implemented on Twitter, one of its main competitors.
This should surprise many. From his official Facebook account, Mark Zuckerberg has just announced a major overhaul of his social network with the arrival of a brand new Feeds tab . Finally, new… or almost. Indeed, it is neither more nor less than an equivalent of your current home page, for the occasion moved to the right in the menu and which it is now possible to customize.
In its place, the first tab of Facebook, which is still considered the home page, now offers you content recommended according to an in-house algorithm. Does this mean anything to you? It’s normal: TikTok already works this way, vying with Palo Alto for the world’s number one position in the most downloaded apps, as a study found a short time ago .
A few questions…
Unfortunately, as often in this kind of case, we do not know precisely how the new selection of Facebook on the home page works. Meta specifies investing in artificial intelligence and sees this change as a real “ engine ” of “ discovery ” designed using machine learning . But how to be highlighted as a creator? Mystery.
What is certain, however, is that with this tab you will be able to get to know pages that you did not follow until then. An effective way to further monopolize your time and therefore continue to retain you, which should greatly help the developer to bail out as the crisis has seriously slowed down its recruitment operations .
Customize your Feeds tab
This Facebook update will be deployed gradually on the various iOS and Android mobiles, the latter offering the navigation bar at the top while the iPhone displays it at the bottom of the screen. If you don’t see anything new on your device, don’t panic; it is only a matter of hours or days before it does.
When you receive the new version of the platform, Meta indicates that you will then have the possibility to choose which friends, groups and pages will appear in Feeds .
