iMac, keyboard and trackpad integrated into a single box

Apple has been working on such a device for several years now: details in pictures.

A new patent validated with the USPTO (American organization responsible for confirming the intellectual property of companies) by Apple evokes the case of an all-in-one computer never released in stores. There are images reminiscent of other patterns of the American brand , which also echo the design of the historic but drastically improved iMac.

Indeed, here, Apple proposes to assemble on the same glass plate the screen, the keyboard and the touchpad. To do this, it would be necessary to favor a curved material , which is within the reach of the Californian giant since other of its official documents already mention the case of flexible smartphones similar to those of Samsung. A camera could also be connected to the machine quite easily.

A major drawback

Unfortunately, even if this potential prototype has something to do with the eye, it seems that it is impossible to make it stand up. To remedy this, Apple offers a kind of wedge that would support the panel facing the user, on a desk for example. This accessory could also contain a set of connectors to connect third-party peripherals to the computer.

With this, the iMac could come and fold up on itself like a MacBook so as to take up less space. As in the case of the cover of an iPad, we imagine that the keyboard flap would protect part of the display against scratches. It would then suffice to place everything in a carrying case to take it everywhere with you. Remember, however, that to date, the iMac offers a diagonal of 24 inches, which limits any possibility of light travel…

Not for now

Anyway, as often in this kind of case, nothing indicates that the inventors of this concept are ready to develop it seriously for Apple. The firm may therefore wish here simply to protect its idea against copying and nothing more.

The real turning point expected on the iMac side is a more imposing 27-inch edition and still with an Apple silicon chip under the hood. Unfortunately, this project is probably compromised as certain rumors assure … And you, what do you expect from the iconic iMac range for 2022 or 2023?
