The inhabitants of metropolitan France are finally entitled to improved cards, too.
That’s it: after long months of waiting, version 2.0 of the Apple Maps maps is out. On the menu, users will be able to discover three-dimensional monuments that are even more faithful to reality than before, as well as a better representation of reliefs. For the cities built on several levels, it was essential in order to better find a precise address (see the representation of Mont Saint-Michel below).
To these changes, Apple also adds the signage of the speed limits authorized on French roads. A crucial detail for motorists who do not constantly consult their dial, and which could thus help them to avoid losing license points. Of course, this solution is also a good point for road safety in general and thus perhaps has a chance of saving lives in the future. Google Maps already offered this tool for a long time.
Other countries concerned
Beyond our borders, Apple has also chosen to deploy this highly anticipated update in New Zealand and the Principality of Monaco . If this second territory is close to us culturally and linguistically, know that there are also nearly fifty thousand speakers of the language of Molière on the oceanic archipelago.
As often, it is better to have accepted the installation of automatic updates so that these new features are available as quickly as possible on your iPhone or on your Mac. Otherwise, go directly to the Apple Maps App Store page here and tap “ Update ”.
Do you use Apple Maps?
Thanks to its native integration with Siri and the possibility of synchronizing all its content on different Apple devices, Maps is probably the most intuitive app for a user accustomed to the brand’s ecosystem. However, it still lacks a few assets to match Alphabet’s competition , despite welcome and increasingly regular changes such as the arrival of road incident alerts recently.
And you, do you also use Apple Maps? What do you like more about this platform than with Maps, Citymapper or Mappy? Do not hesitate to share your opinion or your journey experience in the comments.
