The 27-inch Studio Display may be ready in 2022

A renowned analyst is betting on a third Apple monitor, only two being available new at the moment.

Macs may be critically acclaimed machines, but they’re still better than a full-size display. Both useful for journalism and graphics, this solution is however quite limited at Apple with a 24-inch iMac M1 or a 16-inch MacBook Pro for machines with the largest panels.

Otherwise, it is also possible to buy an external monitor from the Californian manufacturer: the Studio Display (from 1,749 euros for 27″) or the Pro Display XDR, which is much more expensive (from 5,499 euros for 32 ″). But according to last-minute information shared by consultant Ross Young, this range could soon be expanded with the arrival of a 27″ diagonal second with mini-LED technology by October . Or just after the usual period when Apple organizes a big keynote to announce the release of new products.

What features for this device?

For the moment, it is difficult to know more, however the advantages of the mini-LED are well known to specialists. We are talking here about better contrasts, deeper blacks and even an improvement in brightness. Add to that lower power consumption, and you have what looks like a Studio Display Pro, the real name of course still to be discovered.

Moreover, it is assumed that this screen will also be entitled to the Centered Frame functionality like the current model . It could also be powered by iOS , but without users being able to access its interface directly. Finally, the image refresh rate would reach one hundred and twenty frames per second as is the case on the MacBook Pro that arrived on the market at the end of last year .

Prices and alternatives

Undoubtedly, this supposedly more promising technical sheet should also be reflected in a rising price. While we were expecting an affordable monitor from Apple, it would therefore be a question of a high-end model, although still cheaper than the Pro Display XDR. Earlier this year, prices around 2,500 euros were mentioned in the press.

Other manufacturers, however, offer much more interesting alternatives for a small budget, such as BenQ .
