This Tesla executive thinks Apple lacks inspiration

He spoke on a recent podcast and he didn’t mince words.

Franz von Holzhausen is a man who counts at Tesla, since he is currently responsible for the design of the company led by Jeff Bezos. In a recent interview given to Spike Feresten ‘s Spike’s Car Radio podcast , he was not kind to Apple, saying that the Apple brand is sorely lacking in inspiration when developing its new products.

A tenacious rivalry between Apple and Tesla

The framework of the automaker clarifies the substance of his thinking:

The sad thing about Apple products now is that there’s nothing to look forward to. I feel like it’s just a continuation. It’s just a slight improvement of the same. In terms of inspiration, it’s hard to be super motivated by what they do.

He drives the point home by explaining about the connected watch from the Cupertino company that he “  hate to say  it” but that he wears an Apple Watch “  just for the fitness side. Otherwise I didn’t really find any use for it  .

Remember that the relationship has not always been good between the two companies. As macrumors points out , they engage in a talent war and try to poach their best employees. So much so that Elon Musk had called his rival ” Tesla’s graveyard  ” and explained that ”  if you don’t succeed at Tesla, you will work at Apple  “.

In 2020, the billionaire had also confided that Tesla could have been bought by Apple. “  During the darker days of the Model 3 program, I reached out to Tim Cook to discuss the possibility of Apple acquiring Tesla (for 1/10 of our current value). He refused to meet me.  »
